The broad beans are ready at last. There is something calming in the process of picking and shucking beans. I have been waiting and waiting. It always seems an age from when I plant them to harvest. So good! Lightly steamed or boiled with a good quality olive oil and sea salt. The taste reminds me of France so much I can almost hear the flamboyant hand gestures and smell the garlic!
We did well with greens available all through the winter and now it's time to plan the new season's garden. I miss seed catalogues at this time of year, NZ doesn't seem to do them. Please let me know if I am wrong, I would love to be wrong on this one.
