We've gone from very cold weather to Auckland classic humid warm weather. Cue the mosquitoes, sunburn, the first swims of the season (the kids swim all year round, we breed 'em hardy round here), garden madness, flowers and the busyness that comes with the years end.
After trampolining and swimming we convened with our homeschool crew at a town park. At first glance there seemed to be no kids, only parents sitting on a patchwork of picnic blankets. Then flowers starting raining down from various trees. Mystery solved. The kids were miles up trees, happy as. The flowers were so beautiful and filled a few of us with wonder. The buds were like velvet. Filled my car with an incredible scent on the way home too. I hope I never stop being in awe of little things like the texture of a flower bud. So much beauty and magic in the world. We just need to tune our awe sensors to the right frequency. Good line huh? I stole it from a five year old. Kids are the best!
